Standard non-oriented steel isn’t built to survive the centrifugal stress of a 15,000–20,000 rpm rotor. Our high-strength CRNGO grades hold yield strength up to 450 MPa while keeping core loss low, in gauges from 0.20 to 0.35 mm — for EV traction motors, servo drives and drone motors.

Why high-strength CRNGO

Built for rotors that spin, not just cores that sit still

A distribution transformer core never moves. A traction motor rotor does — at speeds that put ordinary non-oriented steel at risk of yielding under its own centrifugal load. High-strength CRNGO trades a small amount of formability for mechanical strength, without giving up magnetic performance.

High rotational strength

Yield strength Rp0.2 from 400 to 450 MPa resists deformation at high rotor tip speed.

Low loss at operating frequency

Core loss is tuned for the motor’s real electrical frequency, not just the 50 Hz test point.

Sourcing high-strength CRNGO

What makes “high-strength” non-oriented steel different from standard CRNGO?

It’s alloyed and processed to raise yield strength well above standard grades — 400–450 MPa versus roughly 300–350 MPa for standard CRNGO — so the lamination can survive the centrifugal stress of a fast-spinning rotor without permanent deformation.

Why do EV traction motors need higher-strength steel?

Traction motor rotors can spin at 15,000 rpm or more. The stress on the lamination rises with the square of rotor speed, so a rotor built from standard-strength steel can yield or crack at speeds a high-strength grade handles safely.

What thicknesses do you supply for high-strength CRNGO?

0.20, 0.27 and 0.35 mm are standard for these grades. Thinner gauges reduce eddy-current loss as pole-pass frequency rises with rotor speed.

Can you match grades like 20SW1200H or B27AHV?

Yes — send us the grade or a datasheet and we’ll confirm the match, or recommend an equivalent grade if an exact match isn’t available.

Do you test core loss at high frequency, not just 50 Hz?

Yes — for high-speed motor programs we can test and report core loss at your actual operating frequency in addition to the standard 50 Hz figure.
