Grain-oriented electrical steel is cold-rolled silicon steel with its grains aligned to the rolling direction, giving very low core loss and high induction along that axis — the standard core material for power and distribution transformers. This is our full grain-oriented family: conventional CRGO (CGO), high-permeability Hi-B, laser-scribed domain-refined grades, and ultra-thin 0.10–0.20 mm strip, rolled from 0.10 to 0.35 mm and cross-referenced to GB/T 2521, EN 10107, JIS C 2553 and AISI M-3–M-6.

All four are grain-oriented silicon steel. They differ in grain alignment, thickness and domain treatment — and therefore in core loss, induction and price.

Domain-refined

Laser-Scribed CRGO

Hi-B base with laser domain refinement, EN M085-23N / M090-23N class. Lowest loss in the family; scribing survives stress-relief annealing.

Ultra-thin

Ultra-Thin GO

0.10 / 0.15 / 0.18 / 0.20 mm strip for 400–2000 Hz transformers, traction auxiliaries and aerospace conversion, where eddy-current loss dominates.

What is grain-oriented electrical steel?

Grain-oriented (CRGO) silicon steel has its grain structure aligned to the rolling direction, giving very low core loss and high permeability along that axis. It is the standard core material for power and distribution transformers operating at 50/60 Hz.

What is the difference between conventional CGO and Hi-B?

Both are grain-oriented. Hi-B (high-permeability) grades have sharper grain alignment and often laser domain refinement, so at the same thickness they show ~20–30% lower loss and B8 around 1.88–1.93 T — at a higher price. CGO covers most cost-sensitive designs.

Which thickness should I choose?

Thinner gauges (0.23 mm and below) cut eddy-current loss and suit high-efficiency cores; 0.27 mm is the general default; 0.30–0.35 mm favours material economics and larger, lower-frequency cores. For 400 Hz and above, use ultra-thin 0.10–0.20 mm.

How do AISI M-3/M-4/M-5/M-6 relate to GB grades?

As a working guide: M-3 ≈ 0.23 mm, M-4 ≈ 27Q120, M-5 ≈ 30Q130, M-6 ≈ 35Q155. These are close equivalents, not identical specs; we confirm against your datasheet before quoting.

Do you supply coil, sheet, slit strip or laminations?

All four — master or mill-edge coils, cut-to-length sheet, precision slit strip to your width, and stamped or laser-cut laminations to drawing.

What surface coating and tolerances do you offer?

Standard C5 inorganic coating; C6 inorganic-organic on request for punching or stress-relief annealing. Thickness tolerance ± 0.02 mm; width tolerance ± 0.1–0.3 mm on slit strip.

Do you provide laser-scribed / domain-refined material?

Yes, on the thinner Hi-B grades where further loss reduction is needed. Laser scribing survives stress-relief annealing, so it suits laminations annealed after cutting. Specify the target P1.7/50 and we quote the matching grade.

Can you match EN, JIS or AISI grades?

Yes — cross-reference to GB, EN 10107, JIS C 2553 and AISI is provided. Send the datasheet for confirmation.

What are your minimum order and lead time?

MOQ depends on grade, thickness and width; common gauges are often available within days, non-standard widths typically need several weeks. Free samples usually ship within one week.
