Product Overview
Standard CRNGO Steel (Cold Rolled Non-Grain-Oriented) is a silicon-iron alloy sheet and strip material specifically designed for electromagnetic equipment where the direction of magnetic flux continuously changes during operation. Unlike Grain-Oriented Electrical Steel (CRGO), Non-Grain-Oriented Electrical Steel exhibits uniform and consistent magnetic properties in all directions within the plane of the steel sheet; consequently, it serves as the preferred material for the cores of rotating motors and small-to-medium-sized transformers.
CRNGO Steel is one of the primary export products of Wuxi Zhongxin Special Steel Co., Ltd. We maintain a ready stock of the three most prevalent market thicknesses—0.35mm, 0.5mm, and 0.65mm—and can supply the material in the form of full coils, slit coils, or cut-to-length sheets according to customer requirements. These materials are suitable for direct use in the punching, stacking, and manufacturing of iron cores.
What is Standard CRNGO Steel?
Standard CRNGO Steel refers to ordinary-grade (non-high-efficiency) Cold-Rolled Non-Grain-Oriented electrical steel produced in accordance with international standards such as GB/T 2521, JIS C 2552, EN 10106, and ASTM A677.
Due to the random orientation of its grains, its magnetic properties remain consistent regardless of whether measured along the rolling direction or transversely. This characteristic is crucial for components where the magnetic flux path is not fixed; consequently, it is primarily utilized in electric motors, generators, and small transformers.Compared to specialized CRNGO steels—which feature high magnetic induction and thinner gauges—Standard CRNGO strikes an optimal balance among magnetic performance, processing characteristics, and cost, making it an economical and practical choice for the vast majority of electromagnetic devices found in industrial, commercial, and household appliances.

Main Performance Features
- Uniform magnetic properties in all directions — Ideal for components with constantly changing magnetic flux directions, such as cores of electric motors and generators.
- Stable and predictable core loss — Standard CRNGO grades deliver steady and reliable low core loss at 50/60Hz power frequency.
- Excellent stamping performance — Optimized hardness combined with high-quality insulation coating effectively extends die service life, reduces burrs, and suits mass production.
- Superior interlaminar insulation — The semi-organic surface coating provides reliable insulation between laminations and lowers eddy current loss of iron cores.
- Good weldability and stress relief annealing adaptability — Suitable for both laminated stacking and welded core assembly processes.
Application Fields
CRNGO Steel (0.35mm / 0.5mm / 0.65mm) is widely used in the following electromagnetic equipment:
- Electric Motors — Industrial three-phase asynchronous motors, servo motors, auxiliary motors for new energy vehicles, and household appliance motors (fans, washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners, etc.).
- Generators — Small and medium-sized alternators, auxiliary motors for wind power generation, diesel generator sets.
- Compressors — Hermetic compressors for air conditioners, refrigerators and commercial refrigeration systems.
- Small Transformers & Reactors — Distribution transformers, control transformers, welding transformers and other power frequency equipment.
- Ballasts & Electromagnetic Switches — Fluorescent lamp ballasts, relays, electromagnetic coils, contactors, etc.
- Water Pumps & Electromagnetic Actuators — Stator and rotor laminations for submersible pumps and circulation pumps.
How to Select the Proper Thickness
- 0.35mm — For high-efficiency motors, new energy vehicle parts, and equipment with high operating frequency or strict requirements on eddy current loss.
- 0.50mm — The most widely used general specification worldwide. Perfect for most motors, compressors and small transformers with optimal cost performance.
- 0.65mm — Designed for low-frequency and cost-sensitive mass-produced products, such as low-end home appliance motors and conventional ballasts.
Export Packaging

FAQ
Q1: What is the difference between CRNGO and CRGO electrical steel? CRGO (Cold Rolled Grain-Oriented Electrical Steel) features grains aligned along the rolling direction, delivering outstanding magnetic performance in this direction. It is mainly applied to power and distribution transformers. CRNGO (Cold Rolled Non-Grain-Oriented Electrical Steel) has randomly distributed grains with consistent magnetic properties in all directions, which is the standard material for cores of rotating machines such as motors and generators.
Q2: Which CRNGO grade should I choose? Please evaluate based on three factors: (1) Operating frequency of equipment; (2) Requirements on efficiency (core loss); (3) Overall cost budget. For example, 50W470 is suitable for medium and high-efficiency industrial motors, while 50W800 and 50W1300 are widely used for home appliance motors. Our technical team can provide targeted recommendations according to your drawings.
Q3: Can you process slitting as per requirements? Yes. We own professional slitting lines. The minimum slit width can reach about 8mm, and the precision meets direct stamping requirements. Please specify target width, tolerance and burr requirements when making inquiries.
Q4: What is the Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)? MOQ for all standard 0.35mm, 0.5mm and 0.65mm CRNGO grades is 1 ton for trial orders. Most clients place orders of 5 to 25 tons per grade. More favorable prices for full container loads.
Q5: Is third-party inspection acceptable? Yes. We accept pre-shipment inspection conducted by internationally recognized institutions such as SGS, BV and TÜV. All products are attached with traceable Mill Test Certificates from original steel mills.
Q6: What is the typical lead time? In-stock items can be shipped within 7-15 days after order confirmation. For out-of-stock items, production arrangement with steel mills is required, and the lead time is generally 30-45 days, subject to specific grades and quantities.
