| Thickness | GB grade | AISI equiv. | Core loss P1.7/50 | Induction B8 | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.23 mm | 23Q90 | M4 | ≤ 0.90 W/kg | ≥ 1.88 T | Highest-efficiency small & medium cores |
| 0.27 mm | 27Q120 | M5 | ≤ 1.20 W/kg | ≥ 1.85 T | General-purpose power & distribution cores |
| 0.30 mm | 30Q120 | M6 | ≤ 1.20 W/kg | ≥ 1.83 T | Larger cores, cost-balanced |
| 0.35 mm | on request | M6 | ≤ 1.30 W/kg (typ.) | ≥ 1.80 T | Larger, lower-frequency cores |
Need the lowest possible loss instead? Hi-B & laser-scribed CRGO pushes core loss down to 0.85 W/kg — see the Hi-B line →

FAQ
Sourcing Standard CRGO from us
What’s the difference between M4, M5 and M6 CRGO?
The grades track thickness and loss: M4 is our thinnest at 0.23 mm with the lowest loss, M5 sits at 0.27 mm, and M6 covers 0.30–0.35 mm. Thinner gauges cost more but cut no-load loss further.
Should I choose Standard CRGO or Hi-B CRGO?
Standard CRGO (M4–M6) covers most power and distribution transformer cores at a lower price point. Hi-B and laser-scribed grades like 23ZH90 push induction and loss further for premium, low-loss designs — see the Hi-B CRGO line.
Which thickness should I use for my core?
It depends on core size and loss target: 0.23–0.27 mm suits smaller, higher-efficiency cores; 0.30–0.35 mm suits larger cores where material cost matters more than the last fraction of a watt. Send your rating and we’ll recommend a gauge.
Do you supply coil, sheet or strip?
All three — master coils or mill-edge coils to your inner diameter and weight, cut-to-length sheet in standard and custom dimensions, and precision slit strip to tight width tolerance for stamping and lamination lines.
What surface coating and tolerances do you use?
Standard CRGO ships with a C5 inorganic surface coating for interlaminar insulation; C6 inorganic-organic is available on request. Thickness tolerance is ±4% of nominal, width tolerance ±1.0 mm on slit strip.
Is Standard CRGO suitable for reactors or instrument transformers?
Yes — reactor cores under continuous magnetizing current and CT/VT cores needing a stable accuracy class both run on Standard CRGO grades. Tell us the duty cycle or accuracy class and we’ll confirm the right grade and gauge.
Can you match my GB, EN, JIS or AISI grade?
Yes — 23Q90, 27Q120 and 30Q120 are our GB equivalents to M4, M5 and M6. Send your spec or datasheet and we’ll confirm the match.
What’s the minimum order quantity and lead time?
MOQ depends on grade, thickness and width. Common gauges often ship from stock in days; non-standard widths typically take a few weeks. Tell us your target volume and we’ll confirm.
Do you provide free samples?
Yes — free samples are usually ready within about a week, so you can test core loss and stampability before committing.
Which standards and certifications do you hold?
Production runs under ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, with material to GB, EN, JIS or AISI grades and RoHS / REACH compliance. A mill test certificate ships with every order.
